A great line in my devotion today about life: It’s not a joke—but it’s also not a job.
I’ve been guilty at times of flying through life and not taking much, if anything, very seriously. My excuse was that I was young and I had time to get serious. And I was right.
Many more people look at life as a job they have to slog to and from and through every day; a burden to be borne through time.
The great thing about life is that you get to choose what it is for you.
Why not think of it as a journey or, better yet, an adventure that continues throughout and beyond your life? The adventure outlook allows you to see the ups and downs, even death, as simply part of the adventure. Nothing in life is to be feared or seen as a crushing defeat, it’s simply part of the adventure. Victories and joyous occasions are enjoyed as high points on the trip.
So, what’s it to ya? A job, a joke or an adventure?
